Since Oddbjørn installed the TOPRO Step stair climbing aid, he can finally use the basement stairs independently again, several times a day. After many years as a welder, he was diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). His symptoms range from difficulty concentrating to dizziness and shortness of breath. It was so bad that he could no longer go to the basement – until he received the TOPRO Step stair climbing aid.
Oddbjørn is married and has four children together with his wife. In 1976, he and his family moved to Frosta, a municipality located north of Trondheim. From then on, he commuted back and forth to Trondheim for years to work there as a welder.
„The daily commuting and work as a welder have finally taken their toll.“
As a result of his work as a welder, he developed the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease COPD.
This chronic lung disease leads to a disrupted airflow through the airways. In Oddbjørn’s case, his symptoms included difficulty concentrating, dizziness, and shortness of breath.
„I had enormous difficulties overcoming stairs. In the end, I had no possibility at all to go down the basement stairs. It simply didn’t work anymore.“
„ Since I have the stair climbing aid, my life has completely changed for the better. I can go to the basement several times a day and no longer have any problems going up and down the stairs. Having the TOPRO Step stair climbing aid helps me a lot, because now I no longer have to be afraid to go out, I just do it without thinking about it further.“
„ The TOPRO Step stair climbing aid is one that I can really recommend to most of the people I meet and know that they could also use it.“
COPD is a chronic lung disease that is based on permanently narrowed airways.
The abbreviation COPD stands for the term from English “Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease”. Translated, this means “chronic obstructive lung disease”.
COPD is characterized by the symptoms shortness of breath, cough, and sputum.
As a rule, COPD occurs in connection with chronic bronchitis, which is presumably also the cause of the disease. Due to the persistent inflammatory reaction, the bronchi narrow.
This can even lead to damage to the lung alveoli, which can result in a lung emphysema.
