Questions & answers about the TOPRO Step

Depending on your place of residence and country, you may be entitled to a subsidy from your insurance company or the state. Please check the requirements on your own.

Your insurance company will usually tell you the requirements for applying for stair climbing assistance.

It is often a prerequisite that you are a member of a health insurance fund or equivalent.
It is also common that you or your relative must have an official care degree that proves both the need for care and limited mobility.
As a rule, this is a one-time grant.

If the insurance approves your application, you will receive a positive decision and the assembly of the TOPRO Step can begin. Submit the original invoice(s) to the care insurance.

TOPRO Step is a modular system and is customized on site. All parts are in stock, so the delivery time from the order date to complete assembly is usually four weeks. In some cases, longer delivery times may occur, and in urgent cases, faster delivery is also possible.

The TOPRO Step is also available for outdoor use in many cases.

TOPRO Step is a purely mechanical aid and does not require a power connection.

The price varies depending on the type of staircase you have. Feel free to send us pictures of your staircase to and we will be happy to provide you with a non-binding cost estimate.

Typical users are people who find it difficult or frightening to climb stairs for various reasons. Some have experienced falling on flat ground or on the stairs and wish for more support and safety when climbing stairs.

TOPRO Step is suitable for people who want to stay active and on the move, while also wanting to be safe. TOPRO Step was developed to help users with MS (Multiple Sclerosis), CP, Parkinson’s, COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), stroke patients, or people who are in rehabilitation after an operation or injury.

In most cases, TOPRO Step can be installed. We recommend taking some pictures showing the entire staircase and the area at the top and bottom of the stairs.

In most cases, it is advisable to extend the railing system by 30-40 cm from the edge of the top step at the top of the stairs.

In case of limited space or if the wall ends prematurely, we recommend sending us pictures to receive a quick response.

Yes, provided that the width of the stairs is at least 60 cm. It is very rare for stairs to be narrower, and so far there has been no staircase that was too narrow to mount the TOPRO Step.

Yes, it is not a problem to mount the TOPRO Step railing system above the already installed railing. However, we always recommend that the TOPRO Step railing replaces the old railing. The handrails of the TOPRO Step are made of stainless steel and are therefore well suited as handrails for all users of the stairs.

Yes, there are some children who use TOPRO Step in their daily lives and benefit from it. Our youngest user is 6 years old. Click here to watch Peder’s (6) first trial run with TOPRO Step. We recommend testing TOPRO Step beforehand in one of the public facilities where it is installed.

Yes. The handle can be adjusted up or down according to your wishes. The height adjustment is done by certified installers.

We often receive feedback from our customers and users that pushing the handle uphill in front of them is much easier than they had imagined.

The handle is made of aluminum and weighs only 1.3 kg – so it is not much heavier than pushing a walker in front of you. Going downhill, lift the handle 2-3 cm high to push it in front of you. Stroke patients often prefer to do this with one hand.

Yes. The standard version of TOPRO STEP is a combination of shades of gray and nature-anodized aluminum. Please contact us if you would like to personalize TOPRO STEP.

Longer delivery times must be taken into account in this case.

Please check with local authorities if a building permit is required for the installation of the TOPRO Step. This applies to both installation in a private household and in a shared stairwell.

Our distribution partners and their certified installers carry out the installation. The installation itself usually takes 3-4 hours.
Only if the handrail needs to be parked along the stairs. If the handrail can be pushed out of the stairs at the top or bottom when not in use, the handrail does not extend more than 10 cm from the wall.
TOPRO Step can be mounted independently of the width of the stairs, as the handle can be folded down either at the bottom or at the top of the stairs when not in use. Since the TOPRO Step railing protrudes less than 10 cm from the wall, it is not necessary to apply for a building permit before installation. In shared staircases, the user must inquire at the condominium meeting or with the landlord whether it is okay to install the ATOPRO Step, even if this does not pose a restriction for the other residents. Please always check with local laws and authorities!

TOPRO Step has been tested and certified by TÜV NORD for users up to 120 kg.
