TOPRO Step is a brand new solution in the field of barrier-free living, designed to make stairs safer and easier. TOPRO Step is a good solution for anyone who has difficulty climbing stairs but still wants to stay active! In these situations, the stair climber is a practical walking aid that supports both senior citizens and people with reduced mobility.
Many people suffer from limited mobility and are therefore dependent on various aids in order to cope with everyday life independently. With these aids, they can live in their own homes for as long as possible without having to rely on the help of others.
There are a variety of useful walking aids such as walking sticks and walking frames to help you move around on flat surfaces.
Stairs often have to be climbed several times a day - depending on the situation at home. This poses an increased risk of falling, especially for people with limited mobility. In these situations in particular, the stair climber is a practical walking aid that supports both senior citizens and people with difficulties climbing stairs in their own home.
TOPRO Step - The stair climber is an innovative mobility product that increases the support and safety of people who either have problems climbing stairs or want to future-proof their home environment.
The purely mechanical TOPRO Step stair climber consists of two main components:
The complete rail system (handrail and handle) is mounted along the staircase and securely fastened to the wall. The handle slides along the handrail and the patented locking mechanism ensures that the grab rail locks into place when necessary.
The locking system significantly reduces the risk of slipping or falling, as it provides support like a rollator on level ground.
Thanks to the high-quality design of the TOPRO Step, the stair climber blends discreetly into your home and takes up very little space.
When the stair climber is not in use, the handle can be folded towards the wall and is then only 18 cm from the wall.
The handrail and handle are made of high-quality, sustainable materials such as stainless steel and anodized aluminium.
The development of the TOPRO Step began in 2012 at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. Three engineering students, whose grandparents struggled with climbing stairs, joined forces to develop prototypes of an innovative product.
In collaboration with occupational therapists, physiotherapists and various user groups, the team quickly developed several prototypes, which were tested between 2012 and 2014. The finished solution was launched a year later, in 2015, and went through TÜV Nord's comprehensive certification system in Germany. The TOPRO Step was launched in Norway in 2015 and the company began exporting the product to other European countries in 2017. In 2019, the product is now available in almost 20 countries worldwide and was recognized as the "Best Solution of 2019" by the SilverEco Aging Well Institute.
We have made it our mission to make you safer and more independent in your daily life. We believe that people should remain mobile and active for as long as possible, as this brings enormous health benefits.
