Since Oddbjørn installed the TOPRO Step stair climbing aid, he has finally been able to use the basement stairs independently again, several times a day. After many years as a welder, he was diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). His symptoms range from difficulty concentrating to dizziness and shortness of breath. It was so bad that he could no longer go down to the basement - until he received the TOPRO Step stair climbing aid.
Oddbjørn is married and has four children with his wife. In 1976, he and his family moved to Frosta, a municipality north of Trondheim. From then on, he commuted to and from Trondheim for years to work as a welder.

COPD is a chronic disease of the lungs caused by permanently narrowed airways. The abbreviation COPD stands for "Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease". Translated, this means "chronic obstructive pulmonary disease". COPD manifests itself through the so-called AHA symptoms. AHA stands for shortness of breath, coughing and sputum production.
COPD usually occurs in conjunction with chronic bronchitis, which is presumably also the cause of the disease. The persistent inflammatory reaction causes the bronchial tubes to constrict. This can even lead to damage to the alveoli, which can result in emphysema.
